The two men who were arrested in connection with the attack on Jussie Smollett have been released without charges after being in custody for 48 hours.
Olabinjo and Abimbola Osundairo were arrested on suspicion of battery but, as of Friday afternoon, they had not been charged.
Chief Communications Officer Anthony Guglielmi gave the update on Twitter tweeting “Due to new evidence as a result of today’s interrogations, the individuals questioned by police in the Empire case have now been released without charging and detectives have additional investigative work to complete.”
Empire actor, Jussie Smollett was been hospitalised after he was attacked in what was reported to be like a racist and homophobic event.
Despite the widely publicized attack, some persons have accused Smollett of staging the attack. Police are yet to determine the veracity of these claims as they are still investigating.
