The news of the released 21 girls out of 276 girls who were abducted form Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State (GSSC) two years ago on the 14th of April, 2014 has filled the air.

The girls were released by 5:30 am on Thursday morning, and handed over to the FG by the military troops who picked the girls from Banki area of Borno State where they had been dropped off.

Recent reports from Thisday news states that reliable sources in the presidency informed them that the girls were released yesterday morning after an undisclosed amount of money was paid to the Boko Haram leaders.

But the V. President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo while speaking on the release of the girls said that ‘There was no exchange of any kind and there was no swap of any kind.’ for the release of the girls.

He revealed that the Swiss government worked with the FG to secure the release.

276 girls had been kidnapped, 57 escaped captivity, 1 escaped last may, now 21 released, leaving 197 of the girls still in captivity. The V.President promises that more of the girls would be released from their captors in the next few weeks or months.

The names of the 21 girls has been released.

The joyful news has affected the FG, the Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) group, The families of the released girls, the School authourities of GSSC, and many patriotic Nigerians.
