Scars are a natural part of the body’s healing process. A scar results from the biologic process of wound repair in the skin and other tissues. Most wounds, except for very minor ones, result in some degree of scarring. Scars can result from accidents, diseases, skin conditions such as acne, or surgeries.

Scars form when the dermis (deep, thick layer of skin) is damaged. The body forms new collagen fibers (a naturally occurring protein in the body) to mend the damage, resulting in a scar. The new scar tissue will have a different texture and quality than the surrounding tissue. Scars form after a wound is completely healed. But nobody likes to see an ugly scar on their otherwise flawless skin. Check out some of the basic home ingredients which can help you treat scars naturally:

  1. Lemon:

Lemon is citric in nature and this helps to remove the dead skin cells and also helps in the development of the new cells to restore some elasticity to the skin. It is a natural bleach that helps to lighten the scars. Take one tablespoon of lemon juice and soak cotton ball into it. Apply the lemon juice on the scars and leave it for about 10 min then rinse with warm water.

  1. Honey:

Honey is a natural moisturizer and it also helps to treat the scars. Treating scars with honey is very effective. Just mix 2 tablespoon of honey with 2 tablespoon of baking soda. Apply this mixture on the scars and give a gentle massage for about 3 minutes and then rinse with warm water. If you want you can use lemon juice instead of baking soda as this works the same. For faster result apply the mixture on regular basis.

  1. Aloe Vera:

Aloe Vera has anti inflammatory properties that help to reduce the irritation of the skin and remove the dead skin wounds. Using aloe vera on the wounds also works in reducing swelling, helps repair damaged skin cells and new cells being produced.

  1. Cocoa Butter:

This will reduce the appearance of the scars by moisturizing and softening the outer and middle layers of the skin. It’s always good if you use pure cocoa butter, as it is very effective, or you can even opt for the product that contains cocoa butter. Just apply the mixture on the wounds and massage it in a circular motion then rinse with warm water. Apply at least twice a day for quick result.
