Water makes up around two-thirds of the human body, hence, it plays a huge role in the way your body functions. Many illnesses could have been avoided if we ate the right foods and drank lots of water. Here’s what really happens when you starve your body of the right amount of water:

If you suddenly feel angry or irritable, it is possible the result may be due to dehydration. Researchers found that even mild dehydration alters a person’s mood, energy levels and mental function.

Low blood pressure

Dehydration can cause a person’s blood level to drop. If you have gotten dehydrated, have low blood sugar or have spent too much time in the sun or a hot tub, it is more important to recognize how quickly your blood pressure drops than how low it drops. Keep a record of your symptoms and your activities at the time your symptoms occurred.

Racing heartbeat

Dehydration causes your heart to speed up as an attempt to pump the proper amount of blood your body needs to function.  Also, considering dehydration can lead to a multitude of symptoms, an individual’s racing heartbeat can be due to anxiety and fear.


Fever and chills are common when experiencing dehydration. Make sure to seek a doctor if your fever rises over 101°F.

Muscle Cramps

Muscle cramps are caused by contracted muscles that refuse to relax. Reductions in fluids cause nerve endings to be squished together, overexcited and spontaneously discharge. That spontaneous discharge is a muscle twitch, which can lead to a muscle cramp. Constantly drink fluids to avoid abnormal muscle cramps.
