The undeniable truth is that many of us don’t get enough sleep. We are usually too busy with life to be dragged back by sleep, or fiddling with our phones when a nap could have been of better use.
These factors and more have stopped us from having the recommended 8 hours sleep. Well, the effect of not getting enough sleep includes high Blood Pressure, depression and obesity, among others. You may not notice in time, until it is too late, that you are not getting enough sleep and the results may be hazardous. Here are the signs to look out for:
You are hungrier than usual
Have you noticed that when you stay up really late into the night, at some point, you get really hungry and start craving sugary food (or just any food)? When you don’t get enough sleep, your hunger pangs become uncontrollable. It bites you to go eat something and as a result, you will become more hungry than usual.
You can’t remember things
It takes you time for you to remember simple things. This means your brain needs to rest and get refreshed. So, if you don’t want to keep forgetting things, try to shut your eyes for several hours. You will see the difference.
You can’t seem to make a decision
Yes, there are some decisions that are very difficult to make. However, when it seems like you cannot take a straightforward decision like the food you want to eat, it is a sign that you need to rest. If you are not careful, it will affect your everyday life.
You’re unusually moody
You are not frustrated, you don’t have any issues with your girlfriend and you have met your KPIs but you are very moody and angry with everyone. A nap will not be bad to better your mood.
You are drowsy while driving
You don’t need anyone to tell you that it is dangerous to drive and feel sleepy at the same time. If you feel this way, you should stop driving and take a quick nap.
You are always ill
This is it when the denial of sleep has gotten to the extreme. Your body will shut down and you will be forced to sleep.
