Buying an entire bunch of bananas always seems like a good idea until after several days, you realise the rest are already over ripe. Many are likely to throw away the bananas if this happens. But, do you know there are healthy things you can make with bananas? Here are some of them:
One of the ways of getting the best from overripe bananas is to make them into a smoothie. When bananas are just too ripe and mushy for your taste, add them to smoothies and milkshakes. They’re full of flavour and bring a creamy component to your favourite blended drinks.
Another popular way of using up bananas is in bread. Keep blackened bananas in the fridge until you’re ready to get baking. The darker and uglier the bananas, the more flavour they’ll bring to your bread.
Take that overripe banana, mash it up with a fork, and stir it into your warm bowl of oats. Go ahead and add any of your favourite fruits to boost its taste.
Blend overripe bananas until it becomes a smooth paste. Scoop into a bowl and enjoy immediately as a soft serve! For firmer ice cream, place in an airtight freezer-safe container and freeze for at least 1 hour.
Combine flour, white sugar, baking powder and salt. In a separate bowl, mix together egg, milk, vegetable oil and bananas. Stir flour mixture into banana mixture and beat until it is slightly lumpy. Heat in an oiled frying pan over medium-high heat. Pour the flour, using approximately a quarter cup for each pancake. Cook until pancakes are golden brown on both sides; serve hot.
