XXXTentacion‘s lawyer has revealed how he urged the star to increase his personal security before he was killed last week.
The rapper, real name Jahseh Onfroy, was shot dead as he left a motorcycle dealership in Deerfield Beach, Florida.
As the music world continues to react to the star’s death, attorney David Bogenschutz has recalled how he advised Onfroy to beef up security.
“We talked about him needing security, that he was past the point of being a kid making melodies on a street corner.”
At the time of his death, the rapper had no security team – and wasn’t known for carrying a firearm on his person.
Describing his death, Bogenschutz said: “The only thing I know for a fact is that they were investigating it as a random robbery. I think he went to the bank before it happened. I think the determination was that he wanted to buy a motorcycle, but [detectives] are not discounting any theory.”
Although the 20-year-old’s career was marred by a slew of domestic assault allegations, Bogenschutz also insists that his life was on a good path.
Last week, police confirmed that homicide detectives in Florida have arrested 22-year-old Dedrick D. Williams, for the murder of the rapper.
