Day four of the Filmmakers competition on June 8, spread jitters across the room as the participants were sent into a frenzy, making last minute adjustments to their treatments.
Jennifer Alegieuno, a professional film and television makeup artist took the participants through her role in the production process.
She shared the story of her journey finding her place in life and becoming what she is today.
Jennifer stressed the importance of makeup in film and the processes she goes through to create a certain effect.
Afterwards, the technical director of the African Film Festival (AFRIFF), Julian Nwagboniwe, took charge, explaining how to properly submit entries for film festivals and why filmmakers do.
Lala Akindoju buttressed his point, sharing her experiences and thoughts on the effect these festivals have on the industry.
Tolu Ajayi, Director of short films such as Blink, Closed and “Special day” Children’s day, not only shared these films with the students but talked about the creative process behind them, such as why he chose the actors that he did.
For example, for his film Closed, where barely any words were said, Tolu noted that his major objective in selecting an actor was someone with expressive eyes.
He also talked about problems that are possible to face as a director and how to avoid them, especially with the people that they might end up working with.
Lala Akindoju ended the day with the final teachings on communication and networking, expressing her beliefs on their benefits, if handled well.
