The third day of the Accelerate Filmmakers Project on June 7, started off on a light note with early birds chatting and mingling, before actual work started.
Accelerate TV’s Director of Photography, Lawrence Adejumo delivered the first lecture and as expected, this was more practical than chit chat.
Lawrence took the participants through a thorough class of camera handling, positioning, lights positioning, among other technicalities involved in film production.
The concentration was 100 per cent, especially when it came to hands-on practice.
The group soon broke for lunch soaking in their new understandings of the camera and continued to ask questions even afterwards.
Nollywood movie Director and actor, James Emokwe took the class on Editing next.
Using scenes from movies like Snowpiercer and Kong, he explained to the upcoming filmmakers why things were arranged in the order that they were, the effect of music and no music, how to send a message to the audience without saying anything and all the other little tricks editors have up their sleeves.
The class quickly turned practical, as the Director of ‘The Awakening’ called the participants out at random to cut a part from a movie scene and engaged them in other tests to ensure they were following.
Afterwards, our host, Lala brought the day to a halt, with a few reminders and pointers.
She was quick to bring to their notice the fact that their treatments for their short films were due the next day and also dished advice on how to make their stories more interesting while still remaining easy and affordable to shoot.
