As two banking titans, Access bank and Diamond bank have come together to form one African financial giant, Access Bank held an official unveiling event at the Eko Hotel Convention Centre on Sunday, March 31, 2019.
Access bank officially merged with Diamond bank in a legal merger, with Diamond bank absorbed by Access Bank, leading to the creation and unveiling of a new logo and identity.
There was music, a well-orchestrated band performance which even played the ‘Game Of Thrones’ theme song, and then there was Waje’s outstanding performance.
The event featured honourable guests such as GMD/CEO, Herbert Wigwe, Co-founder of Access Bank, Aigboje Aig-Imoukuede, Diamond Bank MD, Uzoma Dozie, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, His Royal majesty The Emir Of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi and many more.
Access Bank’s Herbert Wigwe, in his speech recognized the tireless efforts of his Access warriors who facilitated the successful process of the merger, and after he knelt on stage to thank the Lord, he stood up to receive a standing ovation.
Meanwhile, in a statement circulated through the bank, Wigwe expressed his excitement to bring the Access Bank and Diamond Bank cultures together as one bank, with one shared vision.
He noted that both banks have long shared the same philosophy and goal of lifting the continent of Africa through sustainable banking.
“This merger expands our retail footprint, complementing Access Bank’s existing corporate franchise and creating a diversified bank that can support all our customers’ needs. It gives us more financial strength, more technological know-how and builds on our risk management capabilities, providing real security to our customers and more opportunities for all our people. However, our pledge to put our customers first will always remain at the forefront of everything we do,” he said.
Of course Uzoma Dozie who represents the Diamond Bank half of the merger operation gave a heart-warming speech about great moments and legacies.
An artistic dance drama was performed on stage with the theme Dream Big, which is one of the core concepts of the Access Diamond Merger.
The high point of the night was the magnificent unveiling of the new Access logo, which incorporates the original orange chevrons of Access, now formed in the diamond shape that represents Diamond Bank. The end result is a new orange diamond shape, with chevrons within.
Dancers from the performance group came on stage with flags representing the countries where Access Bank currently operates including the United Kingdom, Rwanda, Ghana, Sierra Leone and more.
