You get stamina? If the answer is yes, then get ready for the 2017 Access Bank Lagos City Marathon!
The marathon, slated for February 11, is not just a one day, one off event. For the organizers and the sponsors, the aim is to create a culture of running, jogging and daily exercise among Nigerians. The health benefits of going for a run are immense as aside from boosting fertility and decreasing the chances of developing cancer, regular exercise also keeps one mentally strong and alert. Not to mention, it’s really, really fun!
Last year was awesome and a ton of people participated- including a 68 year old woman (so really, you have no excuse)- and this year is expected to be even bigger. 2016 saw Abraham Kiptom of Kenya win and many people are determined to make sure this years’ winner is a Nigerian.
There’s also those who are just excited about the idea of making it from the starting point (Western Avenue, in front of the National Stadium Surulere, opposite Teslim Balogun Stadium) to the end, all the way in front of Eko Atlantic City, Victoria Island. Even celebrities are getting in on the action with Kate Henshaw, Timi Dakolo and Funke Akindele taking to their social media to show their excitement.
Also have you seen the prizes!?
So oya oh, get a move on and get ready to #runyourrace.
