19 year old Halima Aden has made history by becoming the first hijab-wearing model to be signed to the biggest modeling agency in the world, IMG Models.
The Somali-American was born in a Kenyan refugee camp in Minnesota.
Halima caught the attention of the world late last year, after she wore a burkini and Hijab during the swimsuit segment of competing in the Minnesota Miss USA Beauty pageant.
How lucky can Halima be?
Following her runway debut at the New York Fashion week, where she walked in Kanye’s West’s show, the iconic modelling agency, which is home to some of the world’s biggest supermodels including Kate moss, Gigi and Bella Hadid , Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Joan smalls and Lauren Hutton has signed Halima.
According to credible sources, Aden will be featured in the March issue of CR Fashion book.
Meanwhile, Halima is still breaking limits, as she is being enlisted by huge influencers in the Fashion industry.
Speaking to newsmen, she expressed how important it is to be yourself and abandon stereotypes.
“My Goals is to send a message to Muslim women and young women everywhere that it’s okay to break stereotypes and be yourself’’, She said, “Always stay true to who you are – barriers can and will be broken!”
