Chelsea’s Marcos Alonso’s late goal was enough to seal the much needed victory for his team to walk away with a 1-0 victory against Slavia Prague in the Europa League quarter final.
The Spaniard struck a late winner for the club in their away match.
Alonso nodded in Willian’s pinpoint cross four minutes from time to give Maurizio Sarri’s men a narrow success following a dour encounter.
Brazilian winger was a rare positive in the Blues’ attack, seeing a brilliant effort hit the bar and producing a moment of real quality with the cross for Alonso’s winner.
Slavia has won just one of their last 10 games against English sides in Europe.
The Blues made seven changes to the side that beat West Ham on Monday night, and they laboured for long spells against a hard working opposition.
