Modest fashion in Nigeria is taking a new turn. More and more, fashion brands are paying more attention to the gaping yawn in the modest fashion industry. One of these brands is womenswear brand Amnas. The brand targets young, fashionable Muslim women who are seeking to express themselves via fashion. They recently released their off-season collection for stylish and modest muslimah ladies.
According to the statement following the release:
It is our belief that your culturally aware, globally curious readership will be very interested in learning about Amnas; the very delicate balance they strike between style and modesty; and how they are changing the stereotype surrounding Muslim women and fashion in Nigeria, and beyond.
Speaking about the collection, the designer, Fatima Gidado, says:
“For this collection, more than anything, I wanted to create pieces that were multi-functional. I want the Amnas woman to be able to wear a dress on different occasions and not be bored by such dress. So, there’s an element of function that marries aesthetics in such an elegant fashion.”
