Looks like actress Amy Schumer has saved her son future embarrassment by legally changing his name after realizing that it sounded like the word “genital.” Schumer and her husband Chris Fischer’s 11-month-old was previously called Gene Attel Fischer in tribute to the comedian David Attell.

The award-winning star has revealed on the latest episode of her podcast “3 Girls, 1 Keith” that she and her husband officially changed their toddler’s name. “So do you guys know that Gene, our baby’s name is officially changed? It’s now Gene David Fischer,” Schumer said, “… we realised that we, by accident, named our son ‘genital,’” she admitted.

Schumer’s child’s new name is, fortunately, just as meaningful as the old one (in all the right ways), paying tribute to the “Trainwreck” star’s father, Gordon David Schumer.

Schumer first had the rude connotation of the name pointed out to her by comedian and actor Claudia O’Doherty who mentioned to Schumer how the name sounded. While being a guest on the podcast, O’Doherty explained how it had in fact been her mother who noticed it. “My mom was like, ‘Amy’s called her son ‘genital.’ And I was like, ‘What are you talking about?’” she said.

Schumer told O’Doherty and podcast co-hosts Rachel Feinstein, Bridget Everett, and Keith Robinson that going with David as a middle name has its advantages because it’s Attell’s first name and her father’s middle name.
