The American singer and song writer, Bob Dylan, who is revered for his music has been awarded the 2016 Nobel Literature Prize.

The prize was announced in a press release on Thursday 13th October.

Bob Dylan was born Robert Allen Zimmerman in 1941. He released his first album in 1962 (I was not even born) and he has been in the music scene for 54 years.

The Living legend was awarded the Nobel prize for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition.

The 75 years-old rock legend is the first songwriter to win the prestigious award and he is the first American to win since novelist Toni Morrison in 1993.

Bod Dylan has only written three books but wasn’t even chosen for that, he was chosen for his arrangement of words in his music.

‘His songs work as poems.’ ‘They have often extremely skillful rhyming aspects to them.’ former Poet Laureate Sir Andrew Motion told BBC.

Bob Dylan is known for his ‘Mystery of Lyrics’.

The award will be presented  on the 10th of December which is the anniversary of prize founder Alfred Nobel, who died in 1896.
