Gomes had surgery to repair a fracture dislocation suffered in Sunday’s 1-1 Premier League draw with Tottenham.
The 26 year old Portugal International was injured after a colission with Tottenham forward Son Heung-min and Serge Aurier.
About the surgery, Marco Silva said “Everything went really well and we hope we can see him playing again this season,”
“It’s not easy for us to give an exact date of when he will return but in our mind, and the feedback from our medical staff, is that it is possible.
“We all saw that moment and it looked like a really serious injury. Obviously, it is not something we can be 100% sure on but there are lots of positives.”
Son showed how apologetic he was in Tottemham’s UCL clash against Crvena Zvezda refusing to celebrate his brace, celebrating with an apologetic gesture towards Gomes.
Son was initially shown a yellow card, and then a red card. However that red card has been over turned by the FA after footage shows the challenge wasn’t malicious.
