Tim Cook, Apple CEO, has announced details of what’s about to be one of the biggest streaming platform since Netflix?
TV+, Apple’s letter to the current holders of TV streaming, will launch Nov. 1 in over 100 countries and regions. The price is set for $5 per month for a six people family subscription- talk about cheap! Netflix’s most popular plan costs $13 and Disney’s (Disney+) upcoming streaming service to launch on Nov.12 will cost $7. Apple is also offering anyone who buys an Apple device a year free of TV+.
Besides the price catch, TV+ appears to be promising- I mean it is Apple. There’s a lot of money to throw around. There are few original shows that have grabbed attention already: Morning Show: starring Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston, Jason Momoa’s drama See and an Oprah show! amongst others.
As expected, The streaming service is set to be available on iPhones, iPads, Apple TV set-top boxes, iPod touches and Macs.
The surprise there’s going to be a web browser version of the service and the bigger surprise is Apple has made a rare move and struck deals with other manufacturers to offer the app on other platforms, including Samsung smart TVs, Roku, Sony, Vizio and Amazon Fire TV. The family plan includes access for up to six family members.
