The runtime for James Wan’s upcoming Aquaman film may have been revealed.
A document from distributor Vertical Entertainment, which comes from @kryptonscodex on Twitter, lists various facts about the film, including its principal actors, director, and runtime.
According to the document, Aquaman will be 143 minutes long, coming quite close to the initially reported 140 minutes. As the movie just finished the entirety of production, it’s possible that the length increased since that initial report.
This is by no means official confirmation of Aquaman’s runtime. However, this reported runtime does resemble other films in the DC Extended Universe. The movie would run longer than Wonder Woman (141 minutes), Suicide Squad (123 minutes) and Justice League (119 minutes) while running the same length of time as Man of Steel. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice ran longer, coming in at 151 minutes.
Aquaman’s performance at the box office later this year will play a major role in how DC Films chooses to go forward with its DC Extended Universe. Early reaction to the film has been positive, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that fans will turn out to see it.
Directed by James Wan, Aquaman stars Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Amber Heard as Mera, Patrick Wilson as Ocean Master, Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Temuera Morrison as Thomas Curry, Dolph Lundgren as Nereus, and Nicole Kidman as Queen Atlanna. The film opens on December 21.
