Aretha Franklin‘s funeral will be live streamed and broadcast on US TV, it has been confirmed.
The soul icon died on August 16 after a battle with pancreatic cancer. She was 76 years old.
The ceremony where Franklin will be laid to rest will be a private one, with only invited guests permitted to attend. It will take place in Detroit on Friday (August 31) and will feature performances from Stevie Wonder, Jennifer Hudson, Chaka Khan, and more.
However, fans wishing to witness the service will be able to watch on a live stream from the Associated Press, while CNN and Fox News will broadcast parts of the funeral on their respective channels.
Ahead of Franklin’s funeral, fans are invited to pay their respects at a public, open casket viewing at Detroit’s Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History today and tomorrow (August 28-29).
