Brighton made issues for Arsenal go from bad to worse with a rugged and deserved 2-1 win at the Emirates Stadium, where boos rung out at full-time in interim boss Freddie Ljungberg’s first home game in charge. Although it’s only been 2 games, the vibes at the Emirates arent those of optimism.
Alexandre Lacazette (50) cancelled out Adam Webster’s (36) opening goal with a bizarre flicked header from a corner. Arsenal then had a David Luiz strike rightly ruled out by VAR for offside at 1-1 – couldn’t penetrate Brighton.
The seagulls had never previously won away at Arsenal but they bossed the first half and withstood the Arsenal pressure after the break before Neal Maupay headed home the clinching goal on 80 minutes.
Arsenal next run of fixtures between now and the end of the year look tricky and if Ljumberg isn’t able to figure things out quickly, things could get awkward
