Britain’s Zharnel Hughes beat American Tyson Gay to win the Boston Games 100m in 9.99 seconds.
It is the first time he has run sub-10 seconds even though he finished first in the Commonwealth Games 200m but was disqualified for impeding gold medallist Jereem Richards.
South African Akani Simbine came second, Blake came in third while Gay finished fourth.
At the Jamaica games in Kingston, Nigeria’s long jump champion Ese Brume leapt back into international reckoning as she jumped 6.82m to win the event at the Jamaica International Invitational track and field meeting.
In the 200m event, Blessing Okagbare-Ighoteguonor placed second in 22.66 seconds behind Jamaican Shericka Jackson who finished in 22.55 seconds.
