The family of Swedish music star, Avicii who died last month at age 28 has released a statement as regards funeral plans for the late DJ/singer.
Real name Tim Bergling, the music star was found dead in his hotel room in Oman on April 20. Reports by family and friends as well as other sources revealed that the singer committed suicide after years of battling depression. He was reported to have used a broken glass from a bottle to cut himself to death.
According to the statement, the family announced that the funeral will be a private one in the presence of the people who were closest to the music star and requested that everyone and the media in particular respect their wish.
“There have been many inquiries regarding the funeral arrangements for Tim Bergling, known by music fans as Avicii. The Bergling family has now confirmed that the funeral will be private, in the presence of the people who were closest to Tim. They kindly ask media to respect this. There is no additional information forthcoming,” the statement reads.
Before his death, Avicii was one of the most popular and successful electronic dance-music artistes of all time. He was widely known for his song “Wake Me Up”; the song scored him No. 4 hit on the Billboard 200 in 2013. He also regularly appeared in the Top 5 of Forbes’ “Highest-Paid DJs” lists.
