Aziz Ansari has announced that he’ll be putting on a small last minute gig next week. The time of the event and location weren’t disclosed, but fans can sign up for a chance to buy tickets. The pop-up show will serve as an opportunity to “work out some new material.”
The 35-year-old’s official return to the New York City stage comes after a January 2018 article detailed a woman’s sexual experience with him that was interpreted as either Ansari’s clumsy lovemaking or sexual misconduct. He responded that the encounter “by all indications was completely consensual.”
The “Master of None” star made a slow return to the stage, dabbling in appearances here and there until last November when he announced a 28-date tour for 2019 called the Road to Nowhere. The tour included stops in various US cities, as well as dates in the UK, Ireland and the Netherlands. This new NYC date is a last-minute addition.
Last May, Ansari surprised New York’s Comedy Cellar with a routine alongside A-list performers such as Chris Rock and Kevin Hart.
