After Paris Saint-Germain FC thrashed Barcelona 4 goals to nil on valentine’s day, many football pundits said the Camp Nou side will not qualify for the next round of the UEFA Champion’s League. In other words, Barcelona may win the second leg but won’t join the likes of Bayern Munich and Real Madrid. You can take this to the bank.

Even some Barcelona fans believed that their team will win the second leg but never thought they will qualify.

Though downcast, the Barcelona players led by prolific Lionel Messi never listened to what the pundits were saying. They had other ideas.

Now the world of football is awed and flabbergasted as Barcelona has made the impossible possible. The Luis Enrique coached side enacted the greatest comeback of all time in the Champions League, defeating PSG 6 goals to one.

The team has made football history that will be talked about for a long time.

From the blast of the whistle, Barcelona played like wounded lions. Luis Suarez scored as early as the 3rd minute. Other goal scorers include Kurzawa own goal (40′), Messi (50’—pen), Neymar (88′, 90’—pen), and Sergi Roberto (90+4′). PSG’s solitary and consolatory goal was scored by Edison Cavani (62′).

PSG’s solitary and consolatory goal was scored by Edison Cavani (62′). What PSG had to do was to ensure that Barcelona doesn’t score more than 4 goals. But it wasn’t to be as they were very poor on the night. Angel D’maria, who was outstanding in the first and scored two goals, missed ample opportunities. He was also MIA.

But take nothing away from Barcelona, they knew what they wanted and they went for it. They scored when they needed to. They scored early in the game and also scored the goal that shot them into the next round late in the game.

With less than a minute left to play and Barcelona still needing one goal, the referee awarded a free-kick after Barca goalkeeper, Ter Stegen was brought down. The ball was swung into the box by exceptional Neymar and Sergi Roberto who was at the right place at the right time volleyed over Kevin Trapp and players, coaching crew and fans went berzerk. The scene was utter disbelief.

Barcelona had done the impossible.

This was no doubt one of the greatest comebacks in Football history.
