Barcelona has decided they will not make a guard of honour for Real Madrid’s Club World Cup win as announced by its Director of Institutional Relations Guillermo Amor.
Guillermo announced on Movistar Partidazo after the 4-0 win over Deportivo la Coruna at the Camp Nou, that the Catalonia side will not make a guard of honour next Saturday at the Clásico after Real Madrid won the Club World Cup final.
“We make it clear that we only do this when we participate in the competition. Barcelona as a club believe that not competing in the Club World Cup means they have no need to make a guard of honour for their rivals.”
Coach Ernesto Valverde on his part played down the importance of the ceremony ahead of the crunch encounter.
“It has been a long week, and I haven’t thought about it. It’s a bit strange…”
The Classico will hold next week.
