Prior to the Super Bowl LIII kickoff, R&B duo Chloe x Halle delivered a pristine rendition of “America the Beautiful” in their hometown of Atlanta on Sunday night, Feb. 3.
The sisters, who preceeded Gladys Knight’s national anthem rendition at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, wore matching all-black outfits as they let their falsettos ring out and clasped hands at the end.
Maroon 5, Travis Scott and Big Boi performed during halftime.
Their rendition was so powerful that Queen of Pop, Beyoncé took to her Instagram to celebrate the sisters. Posting a video of them singing, she captioned it: “I’m so proud of Chloe and Halle! 🙏🏽🥰”
But their relationship with Beyoncé did not just start today.
Chloe x Halle first started by doing covers of pop songs on YouTube and it was their rendition of Beyoncé’s “Pretty Hurts” that caught the attention of Beyoncé herself, as well as her label Parkwood Entertainment imprint in 2015.
Their debut EP, Sugar Symphony, was released on April 29, 2016. The EP was accompanied by its singles “Drop ” and “Fall”. Later in 2016, they made cameo appearances in Beyoncé’s Lemonade visual album. They later served as Beyoncé’s opening act for the European leg of The Formation World Tour.
They are also members of the cast of Hollywood series, Grown-ish alongside Yara Shahidi and other young actors.
