Beyonce’s and Jay-Z‘s Atlanta concert ended in chaos and confusion when a fan rushed on stage and tried to chase the power couple.
The Carters had just finished performing their latest track “Apesh-t” at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium Saturday night when someone in a white jersey and black shorts ran up and tried to follow them backstage according to footage posted on social media.
At first, their backup dancers stood on stage looking confused — but then quickly got into “formation” and chased down the intruder, video shows.
The man, who was identified by Atlanta Police officer Lisa Bender as Anthony Charles Thomas Maxwell, 26, apparently wanted an up-close and personal look at the first family of hip-hop. He has also been charged.
Bender says Maxwell was initially issued a citation for disorderly conduct and released, but police have added a charge of simple battery. He was treated for minor injuries, and Bender says there were no other injuries.
Meanwhile, the team released a statement assuring everyone that the Carters are fine.
Beyonce’s publicist Yvette Noel-Schure on Sunday morning wrote on Instagram that the couple was “fine and looking forward to” their second show in Atlanta on Sunday night.
