Beyoncé’s, Lion King-inspired album The Lion King: The Gift debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart with 54,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. (with 11,000 of that sum in album sales). This is Beyonce’s second effort released this year to crack the Billboard top 10, joining Homecoming: The Live Album, which dropped in April in conjunction with her Netflix documentary by the same name.
The Lion King: The Gift marks Beyoncé’s ninth top 10 effort on the Billboard 200 as a solo artist, and the only other act to claim a pair of new top 10s in 2019 is Future, with Future Hndrxx Presents: The WIZRD and Save Me
The Lion King: The Gift was released on July 19 via Parkwood/Columbia Records. Beyoncé executive-produced and curated the project and is also a producer on each of the set’s tracks.
