Beyoncé has announced that she is donating $100,000 to four historically black universities in America.

The Universities are Xavier, Wilberforce, Tuskegee and Bethune-Cookman universities.

The announcement comes only days after Beyoncé became the first black woman to headline Coachella festival – with her performance touching on the history of black universities by including varsity-themed backing dancers and marching bands.

Announcing the new initiative, BeyGOOD boss Ivy McGregor said: “We salute the rich legacy of Historically Black Colleges and Universities. We honour all institutions of higher learning for maintaining the culture and creating environments for optimal learning which expands dreams and the seas of possibilities for students.”
