After a record breaking 19 weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100, Lil Nas X’s viral hit “Old Town Road” has finally been dethroned. The song was dethroned by none other than Billie Eilish ‘Bad Guy’.  “Bad Guy,” sat in second place to the song for nine weeks.billie eilish“Bad Guy” additionally claims the honor of conquering the longest-leading Hot 100 all-time, as it halts the 19-week domination of Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road,” featuring Billy Ray Cyrus.

Lil Nas X took to Twitter to congratulate Eilish on the achievement. “Congratulations to Billie Eilish!! U deserve this!!” he tweeted.

In a message on her Instagram Story, Eilish posted a picture of the Billboard article and simply added, “AYYYYYEEEE WE MADE IT.”


Surprisingly, “Old Town Road” didn’t just drop to No. 2, as Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello’s “Señorita” claimed the runner-up spot, pushing X to No. 3. During its time at the top of the chart, the song kept a total of six potential chart toppers from reaching No. 1. Some of the songs that peaked at No. 2 while “Old Town Road” was at No. 1 include Post Malone’s “Wow,” Taylor Swift’s “ME!” and “You Need to Calm Down,” and Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber’s “I Don’t Care.”
