The 74th Golden Globes took place yesterday on the 9th of January and as I sat at home watching, I kept doing my very best not to cry (happy tears) as for the first time in a while, I was well and truly proud to be black.

Considering we were all mad at the Oscars just a little while back for ignoring black actors, yesterday was truly outstanding as colored people were finally recognized for their phenomenal achievements. I was even excited for the black actors and actresses that didn’t win (Octavia Spencer, Naomie Harris, Issa Rae and more) just for being acknowledged. And yeah, I could go on to talk about the other highlights of the night like how Emma Stone’s new movie La La Land won pretty much everything and how host Jimmy Fallon was surprisingly bland, but I can’t be asked to care about any of that- I’m still too busy buzzing on my black pride.

The one non-black moment of the night that stood out to me was the beautiful wonder that is Meryl Streep. She received the Cecil B. DeMille Award for being awesome used her acceptance speech to drop some knowledge on everyone in the room… and slam Donald Trump!

So now, let’s take a look at the full list of nominees and winners (special shout out to Issa Rae- you didn’t win this time but you and Insecure are still our fav!):
