Plateau United’s quest to qualify for a place in the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup was dealt a serious blow following a 4-0 defeat against USM Alger in the second leg of their play-off round fixture at the Stade 5 Juillet yesterday.

The Jos-based club won the first leg 2-1 but however lost 5-2 on aggregate.

Kadour Beldjilali opened the scoring for the home side in the 28th minute while Oussama Darlafou scored four minutes before the break to give the Algerians a two-goal advantage before the break.

Darla Fou then scored his brace to give the home side a 3-0 lead before Mokhtar Benkhermassa added a fourth later in the second half.

Enyimba, MFM and Akwa United will be in action today for a place in the group stage of the competition.
