Now let’s talk music. For you marathoners who take on course with some audio and your favorites songs blasting while you bound along to the finish line.

This is a simple guide to compiling a nonstop listening experience to carry through 42km. whether you need 4hrs or 10hrs to complete the marathon you’ll have an arsenal of playlists to carry you through. And since you may occasionally slow down or pace through some meters, you can use your device to select or repeat files.

First Off- Essentials

Who is your favorite artist? Whether it is Beyonce, or Davido or 50Cent or Linkin Park, the easiest thing to do if you are on Spotify or Apple Music is to select playlists that feature these artists and their greatest hits. On Apple music they are simply called essentials. So if you search 50Cent essentials…you’ll find the playlist which features some of his best bangers.

By the time you save up to 5 or 6 essentials of your favorite artists, you are right on your way. now if you are not using music apps like Apple music and you are just going to play songs saved on your phone or on your headphones, then of course you are just going to pile up your favorite albums and playlists there.

Also, if you search for running playlists……your apps will deliver of course.

Here’s a mega mix available.

Best genre of music for running of course are mostly rock, hiphop and even afro beats. So while you jam your Naija songs and rap songs that give you ginger, it is ultimately about what you like and how you feel. So, its best to go eclectic. Mix it up so you get all your experiences that music offers. Ginger, hope, passion, happiness, thought provocation etc.

Take a look at these samples, to get a memory jog and be reminded of the sort of jams you like so you remember to pile them up.
