Chelsea is one of the clubs that have been offered the chance to sign Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona. Philippe Coutinho is currently on loan at Bayern Munich until the end of the season, but the Bundesliga club is unlikely to take up their option to sign him permanently.

He came on as a second-half substitute when Bayern won 3-0 win at Chelsea two months ago and while he was in London he told his agent he would be interested in returning to the Premier League.

Chelsea will strengthen their squad in the next transfer window, and have already signed Hakim Ziyech from Ajax but have Pedro, Willian, and Olivier Giroud out of contract this summer.

Bayern wasted little time bringing the Brazilian international to the Allianz last August, with the Bundesliga champions happy to cover his £11m-a-year wage, as well as an initial £8m loan fee, before deciding whether to make his move permanent at the end of this season.

The 27-year-old arrived in Munich having spearheaded his country’s triumph in last summer’s Copa America on home soil, only for a change of manager and a failure to again identify his best role to stymie his progress.

Coutinho was benched under Hansi Flick, who replaced Nico Kovac last November, with the new boss instead preferring Ivan Perisic and Leon Goretzka as he set the up team differently to his predecessor.
