Chelsea is set to announce the appointment of Maurizio Sarri as new manager following the departure of manager Antonio Conte after two years in charge.
The club’s board made the decision to sack Conte and his crew over what they perceived to be ‘some questionable behaviours’.
The 48-year-old won the Premier League title in his first season and the FA Cup in May but his dropping of Costa by text and his continuous bashing of the board on media over failure to get the signings he wanted led to his doom.
Maurizio Sarri will be Chelsea’s ninth full-time manager since Roman Abramovich bought the club in 2003.
Sarri has not won a major honour during his time at Napoli but has guided the club to finishes of second, third and second again behind Juventus in 2017-18.
The 59-year old’s first game in charge will be against Perth Glory in their preseason tour of Australia.
