Avengers: Endgame star Chris Hemsworth has announced that he will be donating $1 million to help fight the bushfires currently ravaging his native Australia.
Hemsworth, who’s currently residing in the country, shared an Instagram video announcing his contribution in an effort to encourage others to do their part as well.
“I’m going to put forward a million dollars, and was hoping that all of you can contribute in any way shape or form,” Hemsworth said.
“Every dollar counts. That money goes directly to the firefighters, the people on the frontlines, the people who have suffered, the communities that have taken a hit and who are in desperate need of our support.”
Hemsworth, who’s known for playing Thor in the Marvel movies, is the latest celebrity to raise awareness about the situation in Australia. Pink, Nicole Kidman, and comedian Celeste Barber are among the stars who have donated to and campaigned for bushfire relief.
The bushfires, which began in September, have killed at least 25 people and brought unprecedented destruction to the country.
