Every year on the First Monday in May, the Metropolitan Museum of Art hosts the Costume Institute Gala to kick off the opening of its popular fashion exhibit at The Costume Institute. The Met Gala’s dress code always honors the exhibit’s theme and most celebrities take the dress code very seriously. And this year, it wasn’t any different; The theme, “Camp: Notes on Fashion,” which is a nod to Susan Sontag’s 1964 essay, Notes on “Camp,” which begins by defining the term as “its love of the unnatural, of artifice and exaggeration.” This year, the starts took the theme to another level, here are some of the craziest outfits at the Met Gala 2019.
Jared Leto took the creativity to another level with his fake severed head on the pink carpet which he paired with his regal design by Alessandro Michele for Gucci. Leto’s prosthetic head was a throwback to Gucci’s fall/winter 2018 fashion show in February 2018 that featured models walking the runway carrying decapitated heads resembling themselves.
Lady Gaga changed four times!!! The Oscar winner never fails to wow us when it comes to red/pink carpet looks and this year, she decided to remind us that she’s still the craziest of them all when it comes to fashion. Gaga’s Brandon Maxwell dress had a 25-foot train and her ensembles got shorter and as the moments went on.

Can we all hail the one true king! Billy Porter, looked stunning in a golden catsuit, which he later casually revealed that his catsuit also had 10-foot golden wings. He also wore a 24-Karat gold headpiece. The star arrived in an unforgettable manner as he was carried on a litter by six shirtless men in gold pants and shoes.
The amazing singer Celine Dion, did not come to disappoint, she stormed the pink carpet with her Oscar de la Renta dress which comprised of 22 panels that were hand-beaded by 52 embroiderers. It took over 3,000 hours to create and weighed an astonishing 22 pounds.
Nothing says camp better than a cookout. Katy Perry had us all drooling in her Moschino hamburger outfit which she matched with hamburger shoes from her Katy Perry Collection, Before that, the singer brightened up the pink carpet in her Moschino by Jeremy Scott chandelier look. She wore a Swarovski chandelier cage over her strapless dress that was also covered in crystals.
Gigi Hadid really channeled the Ice Queen last night. The model stepped out on the pink carpet in a white, silver and gold streaked catsuit, with a matching headpiece and coat adorned with feathers, all designed by Michael Kors who was also her date for the evening.
Actor Ezra Miller shows off some very unique and to be honest, quite unsettling make-up art. Ezra’s outfit featured a full length cape and mask, which later revealed a black pinstripe suit with a train and jewel corset.
Actor Michael Urie went for two looks in one last night. This sure was one of the craziest looks on the pink carpet.
And theatre owner Jordan Roth, very aptly, turned himself into a theatre hall. What a magnificent way to storm the pink carpet.
