Cristiano Ronaldo has been named the Portugal’s Player of the Year in a ceremony organized yesterday in Lisbon. He was voted the best player of 2017 by footballers, coaches, fans and a jury led by Luis Figo.
He beat Bernardo Silva, of Manchester City, and Sporting goalkeeper, Rui Patricio, into second and third.
The Portuguese forward had a remarkable year, winning five trophies with Real Madrid including the La Liga, UEFA Champions League and the Club World Cup.
Ronaldo was accompanied at the ceremony by his girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez and his agent Jorge Mendes.
This year has seen rake up 21 goals in 13 appearances. He is currently the top scorer in the UEFA Champions league with 12 goals and second highest goal scorer in La Liga with 22 goals, three behind Barcelona’s Lionel Messi.
