The ongoing NYFW18 has seen lots of Africans take the show by a storm, doing us all proud and David Tlale is no doubt one of them. This week, he unveiled his Spring/Summer 2019 collection using an iconic scene backdrop; the New York Times Square and the Highlines.
Models including Gbenro Ajibade strutted the lighted streets of New York in Azania pieces and we can’t help but appreciate the artistic process in every look.
The dresses were beautiful in an ethereal way with a touch of the glamorous. The shimmering lights gleamed again blouses with gaudy sleeves and skirts that swished softly across the body.
David, speaking from Le Bain rooftop bar after the event said:
“I always enjoy presenting the unexpected and I couldn’t think of a better place than the streets of NYC to show my new collection which is, after all, inspired by this city and its hustle and fast-forward bustle.”
During the street runway show, the designer used 15 models all of whom committed to both locations, Times Square and the Highline, a former raised railway line turned park to express the collection’s narrative.
