Just two months after actor Max Ehrich proposed to Demi Lovato, it has come to light that the couple has decided to call off their engagement.

On Thursday, September 24, People broke the news that the couple has called it quits, ending their engagement after 2 months. “It was a tough decision, but Demi and Max have decided to go their separate ways to focus on their respective careers,” a source told People. “They have respect and love for one another and will always cherish the time they spent together.”

Demi’s fans began speculating something between the pair was amiss when members of her inner circle unfollowed the actor on Instagram. According to her Lovatics, those close friends and family members of Demi’s included her sister, Dallas Lovato, and longtime pal Matthew Scott Montgomery.

The couple got engaged earlier this year when Max surprised Demi Lovato with a beachside proposal on July 22, which the singer posted about on Instagram. “I’ve never felt so unconditionally loved by someone in my life (other than my parents) flaws and all. You never pressure me to be anything other than myself,” she wrote when first announcing their engagement.

Demi and Max’s relationship began back in March when they started self-quarantining together at Demi Lovato’s home. Their relationship progressed quickly, and by June they were already planning their long-term future together.

The couple celebrated their six-month anniversary earlier this month on Sept. 7 by posting tributes to one another on their Instagram stories.
