The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions, Rufai Ibrahim, has told journalists on Tuesday that, the senate has invited international forensic experts in the different relevant departments to help with their investigations into the MTN’s $13.9bn repatriation allegations.
Journalists were made to understand that, the forensic experts who are now in Nigeria have begun working on the investigations along other local forensic experts.
It was made known that a lot of documents spanning 16 years are going to be reviewed, and both individuals and government agencies have been invited for hearing today, Thursday 20th October.
Those invited are: MTN, Diamond Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, Stanbic bank, Ahmed Dasuki, Bello Sani, Minister for Industries, Trade and Investment, Okechukwu Enelamah, Paschal Dozie, a former Chairman of Diamond Bank, Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria, Gbenga Oyebode and Victor Odili.
The whistle Blower, Dino Melaye is pleased with the development and stated that preliminary investigations have revealed that the $13.9bn is even far lower to what the outlook will be. He stated that when this is over, the country’s foreign reserves would $13.9bn richer and even more.
