Nigeria’s D’Tigers picked Africa’s sole ticket to Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games yesterday as they defeated host nation, China 86-73 in their final 2019 FIBA World Cup classification game in Guanzghou last night.
Josh Okogie who plies his trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves was the best performer for D’Tigers scoring 19 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks.
By this result, D’Tiger’s will now feature at the 2020 Olympic Games after finishing tops in the Classification Group M of the 2019 FIBA World Cup on eight points.
China finished second, South Korea was third on six points while Cote d’Ivoire finished with 5 points.
This was Nigeria’s third win at the tournament after wins over South Korea and Cote d’Ivoire.
