Hobbs & Shaw fans who enjoyed the first production are about to be given another exciting drive through the battle for supremacy between Jason Statham and Dwayne Johnson. Now, there are reports that a sequel is in the works and this has been confirmed by Dwayne Johnson.

This news comes via a fan Q&A on Johnson’s Instagram. According to The Rock, no director is attached yet, and it’s unclear when the film will shoot. But the next film is currently being developed. “(We) just gotta figure out the creative right now, and the direction we’re going to go,” the star said.

The release of a Hobbs & Shaw sequel wasn’t certain–the film did well at the box office, but it opened below most other films in the franchise, and was ultimately a big but not enormous hit, making $759 million worldwide.

The next proper Fast & Furious title, F9, was due to be released on May 22, 2020. But due to the COVID-19 outbreak, it’s been delayed to April 2, 2021.
