Clothing is a necessity. No matter how tight the economy is, we feel the need to get more in the season. Here’s how to shop on a budget:
Stick to the classics: There are must haves that your wardrobe needs. Don’t go shopping for clothes that may not match anything, or you need a special occasion to wear. Stick to the necessities. This includes a white shirt, jeans, sunglasses, a belt, hoodie, a blazer, white T-shirts, black trouser and shirt and maybe flats. With these, you can always create an outfit, no matter the day.
Wait for discounts: It’s always exciting when you see that sales sign on the door. You can get what you need for way less than usual. Another option will be to purchase second-hand clothes/vintage clothes if you don’t mind that kind of thing.
Shop online: There are a lot of deals online. This can help you save a lot of money. Plus, it is at the convenience of your home so you don’t have to spend extra on transportation. Always check for promo code and coupons that will help shade off a few naira from the cost.
Trade clothing: Some people may not be fans of sharing clothes and that is fine. However, it is a good way to save money. Meet a friend or family member that may have things they’ve never worn, or are bored about a few things and trade clothes with them. If you don’t mind that it is worn, this is a great way of getting a few more things. Wash them thoroughly and it will be the same as picking it up at a second-hand store, but at least this time, it isn’t a stranger.
There are a lot of ways to build your style without incurring huge debts. Shopping the smart way will go a long way but remember that few quality clothes are better than a wardrobe filled with low-quality clothes. Now go forth and look fabulous.
