British Singer, Ed Sheeran has been reportedly slammed with a $100 million lawsuit for “blatantly” copying Marvin Gaye’s “Let’s Get It On” classic.
According to TMZ, the lawsuit was filed by a company called Structured Asset Sales who claimed Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud” is a blatant replica of Gaye’s song.
Structured Asset Sales was responding for buying 1/3 of the copyrights to Marvin Gaye’s song which was written by the singer and Edward Townsend who sold the copyright to them, the reason why they have the right to sue the British singer.
TMZ reports that the lawsuit states that , Sheeran’s song has the same melody, rhythms, harmonies, drums, bassline, backing chorus, syncopation, looping and tempo as “Let’s Get it On”.
