Eddie Murphy is set to take the stage at “Saturday Night Live” for the first time in 35 years.

The legendary sketch comedy show made the announcement on Monday, along with some of the other hosts and musical acts they have slated for the upcoming 45th season.

Along with stars like Woody Harrelson, Billie Eilish and Taylor Swift set to appear on the show, producers casually added that Eddie Murphy will be hosting the December 21 season finale!

Despite being hailed as one of the greatest Not Ready for Prime Time Players to ever grace the “SNL” stage, Murphy has stayed away from ever appearing as a guest or host since his departure from the show in 1984 when he left to pursue a very successful career in film.

He has only hosted one time before when he was still a cast member back in 1982 after Nick Nolte bailed on the show before they went on air.

He did appear a few years back during the show’s 50th Anniversary Special but drew lots of criticism for not appearing any memorable sketches or even delivering much of a speech.
