Embattled Spanish FA President Angel Maria Villar who was earlier in the summer arrested on the basis of corruption charges alongside his aide, is intending to stay on as president of the federation.
The 67-year old has been receiving messages to step down for the good of the sport in the country but Villar plans to stay on once he resolves his legal troubles.
Already, Villar has been suspended by the government’s sports council as a precautionary measure and Juan Luis Larrea is currently acting as interim president.
Villar’s intention is to grip on to power for as long as possible, waiting for the outcome of a potential vote of no confidence in November.
