Eminem’s surprise album, Kamikaze, is set to debut at No. 1 on next week’s Billboard 200 chart with one of the largest weeks of the year for an album. Kamikaze‘s opening week is on track to blow past Eminem’s last album, Revival, which also debuted at No. 1 with 267,000 units.
According to Billboard, the first-week number might be get to 360,000 units. Those numbers would earn Kamikaze the fifth-largest week of the year, behind Drake’s Scorpion with 732,000 units, Travis Scott’s ASTROWORLD with 537,000 units, Post Malone’s beerbongs & bentleys with 461,000 units, and J. Cole’s KOD with 397,000 units.
Em’s latest album will likely become his ninth consecutive No. 1 album on the Billboard 200, extending his record for the longest streak of all time. This is not surprising considering the controversy surrounding the album. Eminem had harsh lyrics artists like Tyler, the Creator, Machine Gun Kelly, Lil Yachty, and Joe Budden who has already responded on his podcast.
