Enugu Rangers has departed Nigeria for Libreville, Gabon to take on AS Pelican in their CAF Confederations Cup encounter this weekend.
The Enugu-based team qualified for the continental championship after they finished in the top four after the NPFL playoffs.
The People’s Antelopes were drawn bye in the preliminary stage of the competition while Pelican defeated Congo’s Maniema FC 3-2 on aggregate in the preliminary round, winning away 2-1 in Congo before being held 1-1 at home.
Also, Nigeria Professional Football League champions Enyimba will host Al-Hilal of Sudan in their CAF Champions League first round in Aba on Sunday, with the return leg set to take place in Omdurman on September 29.
Enyimba eliminated Rahimo of Burkina Faso 5-1 on aggregate to qualify for this round.
